#FridayReads: January 6,2017 (Harry Potter & The Book of Joy)

Happy Friday,

I don’t think that I have been more excited for the weekend than I am today. Just one more work shift and you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be tucked in bed either reading or napping. Napping will probably over rule though.

But, without further or due let me share with you what I plan on reading this weekend.

Firstly, I would like to make a 100 page progress in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Like I said in previous posts, I have been loving the writing in this novel. It is so beautiful and I can’t help but find myself lost in the story only to look up and see that an hour or two has past by.

Secondly, I started reading an AMAZING book called “The Book of Joy”, by the Dali Lama and Desmond Tutu. I have been feeling rather lost and sad the past week. the-book-of-joyAn bookstagram account called Artria Books, which is a publishing branch of Penguin, posted a picture of the book with a quote that went like this ” Everyday is a new opportunity to begin again. Every day is your birthday.” This quote spoke volumes to me, I had this urge to rush out and buy the book.It was as if the Dalai Lama and the Archbishop had something they need to share with me.

So, far this book has made me cry, pretty much on every page. This book is a conversation that occurred between the Archbishop and the Dalai Lama, although they believe in different faiths they both have devoted a lifetime to worlds happiness. This book shows how they have found happiness themselves and although they both have been in such tragic situations they have never lived a more happier and fulfilled life. Its inspiring, beautiful and a ray of hope that I personally needed this week.

What are you reading this weekend? Have you had a rough week as well?

I wish you all peace, love and joy.

One Love Always,

# FridayReads|Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Happy Friday my Bookish friends,

This week Friday reads is one of my favorite books, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Harry Potter is midway through both his training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup with Hermione, Ron, and the Weasleys. He wants to dream about Cho Chang, his crush (and maybe do more than dream). He wants to find out about the mysterious event that supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn’t happened for hundreds of years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. But unfortunately for Harry Potter, he’s not normal – even by wizarding standards.
And in his case, different can be deadly. (Goodreads)

Bookish Thoughts:

I have read this book so many times. I think it is my favorite one in this series. I remember that when this series first came out, I used to go to the library and before reading this first three books of the series I would start with this one because it was the largest one at the time, and it made me feel studious to read such a large book.

Fast- forward years later, I consider Harry Potter to be my comfort blanket. It always brings me comfort to go back to Hogwarts and reconnect with the characters. It makes the troubles I seem to be having in my personal life seem so small and meaningless.

Also, this is my read for Harry X-mas, which I participate in every year. Its a read-a-thon hosted on twitter, which takes place throughout the month of December. Winter, isn’t winter without hot chocolate and a few chapters of Harry Potter.

What book brings you comfort?

Monthly TBR · Summer Reading List

Summer Reading List 2016

Summer, is quickly coming upon on us. So, its time to construct that summer reading list. My list is a tiny bit ambitious. The physical books are the books, I will most definitely try to get to first. And To break up any slumps, an e-book list was constructed.  Majority of the books on here are YA, that I just need to catch up on. Stay tuned to find out which books I will be reading for READ-A-RAMA, which is happening on June 13- 19. Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 11.33.51 AM

Monthly TBR

December TBR

Hello Bibliomanics,

The time of the month is upon us again, what will you be reading this month?

Currently, I am finishing up the last of my finals. And about to go on a holiday break at work. I bet, you can see where this is going… Yes, the yearly challenge of meeting your TBR goal. At the beginning of this year my goal was to read 40 books by the end of 2015. The current progress is: I am at 36 books so far. That means within the month of December, to meet my goal I need to read 4 books.  Should be easy right?

So, here is this month’s to be read pile:

Coming in at #1:

The Choice By Nicholas Sparks (Currently Reading)

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loy531350al friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life — boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies — he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door. Despite his attempts to be neighborly, the appealing redhead seems to have a chip on her shoulder about him…and the presence of her longtime boyfriend doesn’t help. Despite himself, Travis can’t stop trying to ingratiate himself with his new neighbor, and his persistent efforts lead them both to the doorstep of a journey that neither could have foreseen. Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage and family, The Choice ultimately confronts us with the most heartwrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

And of course during this beloved holiday season, the book tube/ blogging community holds the annual Harry X-mas. Haven’t heard of it? This is where we book lovers, read either one or all the books of Harry Potter in the month of December and try to watch the movies. Last year, I read the “Sorcerers Stone”, and the “Chamber of Secrets”, that means I will be continuing on with the series.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.k. Rowling

Harry Potter 5is lucky to reach the age of thirteen, since he has already survived the murderous attacks of the feared Dark Lord on more than one occasion. But his hopes for a quiet term concentrating on Quidditch are dashed when a maniacal mass-murderer escapes from Azkaban, pursued by the soul-sucking Dementors who guard the prison. It’s assumed that Hogwarts is the safest place for Harry to be. But is it a coincidence that he can feel eyes watching him in the dark, and should he be taking Professor Trelawney’s ghoulish predictions seriously?

Recently, I watched 50 shades of Grey on HBO GO. I was a huge fan of the books and the movie made me want to read the story from Christian’s point of view.I’m sure you can guess what book is next on the pile.

Grey by E L James

See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian’s own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his offiGREYce, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Devil’s Game by Joanna Wylde

Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies-the Reaper18693621s-using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in
keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger-a man who isn’t afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn’t afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

These are a few of the books I would like to get through in the month of December. I also want to read more about a vegan diet, one of my favorite you tubers “High Carb Hannah”  @(https://www.youtube.com/user/Rawkaholics), and her boyfriend came out with 3 vegan cook books, called #Fully Cooked, #I like it raw and #RawUntilWhenever.I hope to be checking those out and trying out some yummy recipes.

So here it is the last TBR of the year. Stay tuned for future reviews.
