Booktube-a-thon Wrap -up 2017

Hello Bibiliomanics,

Here is my wrap up for 2017 Booktube-a-thon!!!

Alice in Wonderland By Lewis Carroll & Illustrated by Camille Rae GarciaAlice in Wonderland

This book was such as weird read. I’ll be honest half the time I had no idea what was going on. The ending was a bit disappointing. However, the art style of this book was very beautiful and I am so glad I read this novelization rather then the with the traditional art work. I really want to get to “Through the Looking Glass”. I would like to see if there will be more answers about the whimsical world of wonderland. I do have to say in regards to book to movie adaptation, the new Tim Burton adaptation was awesome and I enjoyed it a lot more than the book.

Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls By Lynn Weingarten

This book was suspense full. Everything that I predicted to happen did not happen. It had me at the edge of my seat for the majority of the time. I thought that the climax of the story was very well done however the resolution was very rushed. I also thought that the conclusion could have tied more ends together instead of leaving it to reader interpretation.

As I am still reading this, I just have to sayI am enjoying it a lot. I loved the Twilight  Saga when it first came out and I still enjoy it years later as I am rereading it. I remember I didn’t enjoy “New Moon”, very much the first time I read it because there is less vampire action in it. This time around I am very much enjoying getting to know Jacob’s character which I feel I didn’t give a chance the first time I read this series.

Booktube-a-thon Day 5-7: Reflection

Hello Bibliomaniacs,

I meant to post this on Friday but things got kinda of hectic. On Friday my roommates and I did a movie night were we watched “Hidden Figures”.  If you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend it. It was such a smart, quirky, informative and interesting movie. There were times that I was sitting one the edge of the couch worrying about how a situation would end. That night lets just say my pizza diet was going strong and I included some color into it by adding cupcakes. Colorful neon frosting, is totally part of a whole foods diet.  As you probably can tell I didn’t read much of anything on Friday.

Saturday was another very much eventful day, my roommate invited me to a picnic and of course I was like “Yes, I would love to go.” Anything that involves food, you know I’m there. Although, the food was amazing, I have to say the people I met really warmed my heart and it was just a very warm, fun filled time. So, as you may have guessed not much reading was done.

Sunday was yet another busy day, I ended up going to help my grandma around her house, and lets not forget that there was food involved.

It’s been a minute since I had home cooked soup. I did get some reading done, I am currently on page 202 of “New Moon”, by Stephanie Meyer. And I am enjoying my time reading this so much. I loved the Twilight Saga when I read them the first time and I still am enjoying them now. They are just super fun light reads. Is anyone else TEAM EMMET???

Booktube-a-thon Day 4: Reflection

Good Evening Bibliomaniacs,

7/27/17 6:52 pm: I have yet to read a single page. However, I caught up on “Shadowhunters” and “So, You Think You Can Dance”.  I went to the library and got “Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index” and Vol.4 of “The Walking Dead “– ( The Heart’s Desire)

Newmooncover

9:22 pm: I still have yet to read a single page. But, I have happily worked out, had a smoothie, and ate dinner.  Looking forward to hibernating with my dogs and many, many cups of tea this upcoming weekend.

9:45 pm: It is finally time to read. I am showered,  those pearly whites are brushed and ladies and gents, you know what time it is. Reading “New Moon”, by Stephanie Meyer time. Ready, set, break!!!

10:43pm: Today I read a total of 38 pages. Heading to bed because my eyes just can not stay open. This wasn’t  the best reading day, but I am not going to beat myself about it because I did spend time catching up on the tv shows that I watch and went to the library. Overall, today wasn’t the best reading day but I still read and thats a win in my book. And did I mention I am loving this book!!!

Booktube-a-thon Day 3: Reflection

7/26/17 11:21 Am

So, I don’t start work until this afternoon. I was hoping that I would spending the morning reading. I got up around 7 am, ate 2 slices of pizza and read a total of 37 pages, and then I took a nap. Good riddance.

So, now that I am more wake I think it is time to finish “Alice in Wonderland”.

Alice in Wonderland

1:07 Pm: I finished reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland!!! Honestly I have no idea what I just read. I honestly felt like Lewis Carroll was on some kind of drug while he wrote this book. The story just didn’t make sense in places. There was a lot that just didn’t flow. The climax and resolution of this story was just too fast and I didn’t feel like wonderland was really described well in this book. I loved the artwork by Camille Rose Garcia. But, as far as the story goes I think that Tim Burton did a lot better job of putting this story into a movie than Lewis Carroll did of explaining it in words. It was still fast paced, but not as enjoyable as I imagined it to be.

I feel like I want to read a fluffy contemporary. But, I have a few books from the library that I need to finish so I don’t know what I want to pick up.

I have to get ready to go to work. The next book I will be picking up is going to be “New Moon” by Stephanie Meyer. I know this book is quite big, but I reread twilight last week and I really enjoyed it so I think I will continue on with  “The Twilight Saga” reread.

10:20 pm: I planned on reading “New Moon”, when I got off work today, but I ended up just watching Scott Pilgrim : The World. It was funny, but not at all what I expected. It stayed rather true to the graphic novels.

Booktube-A-Thon Day 2: Reflections

Hey Bibliomaniacs,

7/25/17 3:18 pm: I came home from work and changed straight in my pjs, grabbed a bag of sun chips and finally finished my first read of booktube-a-thon. I

Suicide Letters from beautiful Girls

finished “Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls”. It was very fast paced, yet the book left a lot of lose ends. I think that it also took more of a mocking tone to suicide rather than rising awareness. I think that the title of this book was a little misleading. Check out my full review @ SUICIDE NOTES FROM BEAUTIFUL GIRLS

I am contemplating if I want to continue reading “Ariel” by Sylvia Plath or if I want to start reading “Alice in Wonderland”. I think I’m going to start of with “Alice in Wonderland”.

Later 6:19 pm: I read only like 12 pages of “Alice in Wonderland”

Ariel

before I took a 2 hour nap. Time to work out, any readers do beach body? Today we are killing it with T-25. Shaun T is the MAN!!!

EVEN Later 9:36 pm: If for some very strange reason you thought that after that work-out I had a healthy dinner. Umm, guess again. Unless we consider Costco Cheese Pizza to be protein filled, with a serving of vegetables from the tomato sauce. But, I was craving pizza really bad. I wish I could say that in the last 3 hours I made more progress in “Alice in Wonderland”. The answer would be nope, no, nada, net etc. ( That’s as far as my no vocabulary goes in foreign languages.)

But, really I’m going to read now. I am finishing this blog post on the start of day 3. I ended up going to bed around 11 pm last night.

Alice in Wonderland

I got to page 69 in “Alice in Wonderland”.  The beginning of the book was very confusing and I had no idea what was going on. The movies do a way better job of explaining how Alice gets through to Wonderland.

Dewey 24 Hour Read- a-thon

Hello Bibliomanics,

I am a huge fan of read-a-thons. And today April 25,2015 is the Dewey 24 hour read-a-thon. I was planning on making a progress video but, ended up getting my wisdom teeth taken out instead yesterday, so today I am recovering in bed. And although I am enjoying my time marathoning the “Pretty Little Liars”. I am also going to try and sneak some time here and there to read.

History on the Dewey 24 hour Read-a-thon, it was created by a lady named Dewey in 2007, but she passed away a year later and her blog was taken down. However, a group of fantastic woman got to together and they loved the read-a-thon so much that they decided to continue the tradition and carry on with it on their blog. They host it twice a year on time in April and once more in October. You have a choice to stay up the entire 24 hours and read or you can just read a couple of those hours. If you want more information check out their blog at: 24 hour read-a-thon

My TBR pile for this read-a- thon, was very easy to pick. I allowed myself to have a couple of choices. And since I slept in today and didn’t start until around 9am, I think I have decide to just make as much progress as I can on the two books that  I am currently reading. The first book that I think that I can finish today is “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” by Jenny Han. And the book I want to make some progress on is “The Game of Thrones,” by George R.R. Martin.

The summer I turned pretty      Update as off 1:38pm in the Pacific time zone, I am reading “The Summer I Turned Pretty”. And I am on page 90/295.

Note: I finished “The Summer I turned pretty and I loved it. I can’t wait to read the rest of the trilogy this summer.

A Game of Thrones

And I am on page 217/807 in the “A Game of Thrones” By George R.R. Martin.

Note: I am still slowing working my way through “A Game of Thrones. I am 307/807. My goal is to read at least 100 hundred pages tomorrow (5/25/2014).

Happy Reading,  Rina
